Married to Viola M. SCHULTZ, born on 23-01-1915 in Red Lake County, MI, died on 16-08-2004 in Crookston, Polk County, MI at the age of 89. Viola M. Goosen, 89, of Crookston, Minnesota, died Monday afternoon, August 16, 2004 in the Villa St. Vincent Nursing Home in Crookston. Viola was born on January 23, 1915, in Louisville Township, Red Lake Falls County, Minnesota, the daughter of Leo and Margaret (Wylie) Schultz. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and attended country schools. Viola was united in marriage to Richard F.H. Goosen and the couple made their home in the Euclid area where they farmed for many years. They later moved to Crookston where Viola worked for nine years at the St. Francis Hospital and for eighteen years at Central High School in the custodial department, where she repaired sports uniforms as well as other duties. Richard passed away on February 8, 1973. She entered the Villa St. Vincent Nursing Home in May of 2000. Viola will be fondly remembered by her family and friends.

Loving family members include two sisters-in-law, Marie Longfors of Osage, MN, and Pearl Goosen of Crookston, MN; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Besides her husband Richard, Viola was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Esther (Melvin) Schehr, Mabel (Ed) Krause, Myrtle (Adam) Schear, and Erma Schultz; and two brothers, Harold Schultz and Harvey Schultz.

The funeral service for Viola M. Goosen will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, August 19, 2004 in the Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Crookston, with Rev. Steve Bohler, officiating. Visitation will be for one hour before the funeral at the church. Interment will be in the Oakdale Cemetery in Crookston.

Married to Cyril Joseph WAVRA, born on 23-03-1908, died on 31-05-1998 at the age of 90. Cyril J. Wavra, 90 of Red Lake Falls, MN died on Sunday, May 31, 1998 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Red Lake Falls, MN.

Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, June 4, 1998 at 10:00 AM in St. Dorothy Catholic Church at Dorothy, MN with Father Gary LaMoine Officiating. Burial will be held in the Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5 - 8 PM with a 7:00 prayer service at the Petterson Funeral Home in Red Lake Falls and also one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.

Cyril Joseph Wavra was born March 23, 1908 at Tabor, MN son of James and Mary (Balek) Wavra. He was raised and attended school in the Euclid area. He worked in the Potato warehouses and the American Crystal Sugar Plant in East Grand Forks. On September 20, 1930 he was united in marriage to Bertha Goosen at Euclid, MN. They farmed in the Euclid area until 1935 when they purchased a farm near Dorothy, MN where he lived and farmed until his retirement in 1973. He also worked at American Crystal Sugar in Crookston, MN from 1955 until that time. Bertha passed away March 5, 1976. Cyril moved into Red Lake Falls in 1993 and the past three years lived at Hillcrest Nursing Home.

Cyril was a member of the St. Dorothy Catholic Church and served on the church council, served on the School Board at District #22 (Dorothy), he also played accordion and was a square dance caller and was active in the square dance club in Dorothy.

He is survived by his children Lois Proulx (Paul); Kenneth Wavra (Helen) and Kathie Peterson (Jack) all of Crookston, MN: 22 grandchildren Greg Proulx, Jennifer Ohr, Michael Proulx, Patricia Amiot, Bradley Proulx, Barbara Rock, Thomas Proulx, Colleen Lunski, Charles Proulx, Daniel Proulx, Michelle Kraft, Nicholas Peterson, Tony Peterson, Kelle Collins, Joel Peterson, Debbie Engebretson, Mark Wavra, Tim Wavra, Vicki Henre, Denise Eggebraaten, Tammy Wild, Barry Wavra: 38 great-grandchildren. One brother Clem Wavra of Red Lake Falls, MN; sister Clara Phelps of Sequim, WA and sisters-in-law Mary Wavra of Red Lake Falls, MN, Pearl and Viola Goosen of Crookston, MN, many nieces and nephews.

Cyril is preceded in death by his wife Bertha, granddaughter Brenda Wavra, three brothers Gordon, Dorn and Lenhart: three sisters Jean Regina Airhart, Marcella Beauregard and Florence Landon.

   1.  Mattie Bertha GOOSEN, born on 11-02-1902 in Crookston, MI, died on 04-04-1985 in Eau Claire County, WI at the age of 83. Mattie Bertha Drehmel, 83, of Route 1, Augusta, Wisconsin, passed away Thursday afternoon, April 4, 1985, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.

Mattie Drehmel, daughter of Theodore and Margaret "Maggie" (Grundahl) Goosen, was born February 11, 1902, at Euclid, Minnesota. She was baptized, confirmed, and attended school in Euclid.

She was united in marriage to Herman Drehmel on October 12, 1923 at Crookston, Minnesota. The couple lived one year in Viroqua, Wisconsin, and then moved to the Town of Ludington, Eau Claire County, Wisconsin, where they have lived for over 60 years. She was a charter member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Ladies Aid and held various offices with this group.

She is survived by her husband, Herman, Augusta; two sons, Harold Drehmel, Augusta, and Earl Drehmel, Fall Creek; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Theodore Goschen, East Grand Forks, Minnesota; and three sisters, Marie Magsam, Dorothy Peterson, and Hulda Porter, all of Euclid, Minnesota.

Funeral services were held April 8th at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Ludington with Rev. Ralph Morris officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta was in charge of the arrangements.
Married at the age of 21 on 12-10-1923 in Euclid, MI to Herman Frank DREHMEL, 28 years old, born on 11-07-1895 in Ludington, Eau Claire County, WI, died on 27-10-1994 in Fall Creek, Eau Claire County, WI at the age of 99. Herman F. Drehmel, 99, of the Fall Creek Valley Nursing Home, formerly of Augusta, passed away Thursday, October 27, 1994 at the home.

Herman Frank Drehmel was born July 11, 1895 to Carl and Hulda (Halbedel) Drehmel in the Town of Ludington, Eau Claire County, Wisconsin. As a child he attended the Woodland Valley Country School. He was united in marriage to Mattie Goosen on October 12, 1923 in Euclid, Minnesota. The couple lived for a short time in Viroqua, Wisconsin, before moving to their farm in the Town of Ludington. Besides farming, Herman also hauled can milk for the Ludington Creamery.

Herman served in the United States Army under General Pershing during WWI, from May of 1918 until June of 1919.

He was a charter member of the Augusta American Legion, Post No. 291, and a member since 1926. He had served on the Augusta Farmer's Union Board for 30 years. He had also served on the Ludington Town board, Augusta School board, and Bethlehem Lutheran Church board for 21 years. For 38 years, he had served as the Ludington Fire Warden.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mattie, on April 4, 1985, his grandson, Steven Drehmel in 1978, five brothers, Emil, Karl, Chris Sr., Otto, and Herbert Drehmel, and one sister, Anna Acker.

Survivors include two sons, Harold (Helen) Drehmel of Augusta, Wisconsin, and Earl "Bud" (Lucille) Drehmel of Fall Creek, Wisconsin; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Monday, October 31, 1994 at 1 p.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, in the Town of Ludington, with Pastor Timothy Azzam officiating. Burial with military rites by the Augusta American Legion Post 291 was held in the church cemetery. Anderson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Married 1935 to Emil JERIK, born on 26-07-1913 in Chigaco, IL, died on 14-04-2004 in Crookston, Polk County, MI at the age of 90. Emil was the son of Joseph and Ludmilla Jerik, born in Chicago following their move from the Tabor, Minnesota, area. Emil's mother died in Chicago when he was 3 years old. His father died two years later. He and his older brother, Charles, and sister, Mathilda, were then brought back to Minnesota. They were reared by their mother's parents, John and Mary Brantl.

Emil and Margaret Goosen were married in 1935. He worked for several local farmers before beginning his employment with the Northern Pacific Railroad. He worked for NP until his retirement around 1975. Emil and Margaret were the parents of three children, Robert, Mildred, and Mary Lou.
