Same as with Carl, I would also like to make contact with anyone who has done research/has had contact with
Goosens of the Maclear area.(Willem Adriaan Goosen +Maria Elizabeth Johanna Shepperson, nee Goosen of farm Stockenstroom)
I am a decendant of these Goosens.
My husband, Alwyn Goosen, was born in Kleinzee in the Northern Cape in 1983. We would love some info and family history on the Goosens from Namakwaland. Baby Goosen (our first), another Goosen generation is due in September 2013.
PS: Dankie vir 'n fantastiese webtuiste!

Please contact me if you have any further links. firstname.lastname@example.org
I have been trying for some years to track my fathers genealogy with little success. He tried all his life with no success.
I fiNAlly uncovered a document from the archives with some clues.
I am hoping that with a lot of luck someone might just have the missing pieces.
My father John Daniel Goosen was born in East london on 12 April 1912 to Dorothy Cornelia Goosen. She worked in the Orient Tea Room in East London and was according to the document of good character but unable to support her self and her child.
He was illegitimate and Dorothy never told her family he existed. Her parents were dead in 1917. I believe she went to Johannesburg in 1921.
She handed him in t the "Newton Te Huis" orphAnage in KImberley due to extreme financial hardship in 1917.
Her father was John Daniel and he was a farmer in the Queenstown district at the farm Vaalbank. She had a brother in Dordrecht (Wodehouse) named Hendrick goosen. She also had a sister Johanna Opperman wife of Christiaan who lived in Komgha.
She has another brother Antonio Christopher Lombard Goosen who lived at Retreat Queenstown district.
Despite these facts finally uncovered I still cannot find any further information. Any links or information WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.
(Excuses for my bad English)

I have recently begun researching my family tree & stumbled on this site by Googling the names I knew from an old document written by my great-great grandfather, John W. Goozen.
I am thrilled to find so much information, going back so far! Thank you to all who have contributed.
I'm not sure if there is anything I can contribute, but I will keep looking around the site and add things if possible.
Data i.v.m. ons Goosen Familie is dat
Hulle was veeboere, wa makers, ystersmit.
Born in 1965 my dad is Nicholaas Johanes Stefanus he married Elizabeth Jacoba in 1961. Grandad was Adriaan Wilhelm Goosen he married Francina Fouche. Father is the only son and had two sisters older than him one married a van zyl and kukkuk. I have 4 sisters. Born in Kempton Park but stays in Cape Town.
I became a part of your chart 36 years ago when I became Walter Dwight Goossen's (1915 - 1999) Son-in-Law. I maintain an address book of the descendants of Franz M Goossen's (1876 - 1943) descendants. I also try to maintain a Genealogy chart of the F M Goossen cousins. Mel.
Henrick Goossen The oldest generation of our family Goossens I could find is from Henrick Goossen 1293-1368 married to Katalijn Veerkens. This family and their descendants lived in two regions of the Dutch and Belgian border. See map on my website www.Hof-ter-Poorte.be
Hi Here some corrections on the 2 marriages of Fredericus GOOSSENS, born on 08-03-1840 in Hansbeke, Nevele, died on 14-10-1921 in Destelbergen. marriage 1 on 26/8/1874 in Ruiselede with Maria Philomena Ghislena Van Compernolle 3 children in this marriage marriage 2 on 25/3/1879 in Ruiselede with Rosalia Callewaert 9 children in this second marriage, Cyrillus Goossens was the 5th child
I would like to find out more about my ancestors but am battling to make the right link. My grandfather was Theunis Christoffel and he had 2 brothers Petrus and Christoffel and a sister called Anna. I think Anna's married name was Roux. The grew up somewhere near Queenstown, South Africa. My grandfather was born in 1907.
This is for David Goossen. So pleased to read your entry. You must be my second cousin as the Fred Goossen you talk about was my first cousin. I lived in the same house with him in Brewster, NY when I was in high school. My mother was taking care of her father, Behrend Goossen, at the time. My Uncle Ben, Aunt Carrie, cousin Fred, his first two sons, and cousin Dorothy lived upstairs in my grandfather's huge house. After we moved away I lost touch with a lot of relatives, but I talked to your Dad while he was in hospice care just before he died.
My Dad was John Daniel Goosen born in East London, South Africa in 1912. His mother was Dorothy. His dad might be Silverstein. Think he ended up in an orphanage in Kimberly approx 1917. Would love to find a link as I have no clues to his life other than the above. He died in Johannesburg in 1982 aged 70. I think he ran away from the orphanage at 15.
I am looking for ancestors of Marinus and Pieter Goossen, parents are Jan and Theodora Kouwenberg. I plan to visit the Netherlands in May and would like to visit cemeteries, etc where Jan and his parents might be buried. I have birth and marriage info from various sources, but no death/burial info. Please contact me if you have any information. Ida Keating

Trying to find out my where my family originated from. I believe i am from the line of Heinrich Goosen. I also think that before the goosens were in west prussia they might of immagrated from the netherlands or northern germany. The mennonites? any one with information prior to heinrich 1684? -
Hi Heather - is this you?! I feel it must be! I heard you'd left Byo and headed down to Cape Town and thought I'd try to find you again and this came up! Mum and Thea are there, in Tokai. They've both recently been widowed. Anyway, here's hoping you are all well - and hope to hear from you, Best wishes Rozanne -
Thanks also just came upon this site by chance, i was born in Springs on 15/07/1960 to Johannes Christoffel Goosen and Doreen Rosemary (Smith) Goosen My sister is Vera Catherine Goosen now Amos. At 2 years we moved to Durban lost all contact. My father fell ill with gillian barre syndrome and we never again had contact with any of the family since. If anyone can remember us let us know, i think my father had a brother who was much younger than him and i think it was Patrick -
