- Joanne Elaine Goossen was born September 24, 1947 to Jonas and Eva (Heffele) Goossen in Mountain Lake, Minnesota. She then attended Mountain Lake School until moving with her family to Trimont and was a 1965 Graduate of Trimont High School. On April 22, 1967, Joanne and Oliver Sandmeyer were married in Mountain Lake, Minnesota. After their marriage they moved to Trimont where Joanne was employed at the Trimont Community Hospital until it closed. She then was employed at the Trimont Health Care Center in housekeeping and laundry department. Joanne was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Trimont, the Foster-Bernhardt American Legion Auxiliary of Trimont. She greatly enjoyed having coffee with her parents, watching T.V. and spending time with her family and friends.
Joanne was called Home on December 27, 2007 at her home in Trimont, Minnesota after an five year fight with cancer, at the age of 60 years.
Celebrating her life are her husband, Oliver Sandmeyer of Trimont, Minnesota; her children, Kevin Sandmeyer and wife, Dawn, of Fairmont, Minnesota,Katherine Dougherty of Oldham, South Dakota, Kelly Sandmeyer and her special friend, Jamie Nelsen of Trimont, Minnesota, Michael Sandmeyer working in Iraq for KBR, Allen Sandmeyer of Trimont, Minnesota; six grandchildren, Tiffany Borntrager, Brook Dougherty, Lucas Dougherty, Christian Sandmeyer, Reese Sandmeyer and Hunter Schmidtke; sisters, Barb Hampton and special friend, Calvin, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Janet Jones and husband, Steven, of rural Trimont, Minnesota, Glenda Homan and husband, Ron, of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Vyonne "Goossen" Adams of Trimont, Minnesota and Becky Stewart and husband, Mark, of Eagle Lake, Minnesota; brothers, Roger Goossen and wife, Nyla, of St. James, Minnesota, Randy Goossen and wife, Margaret, of Westminster, Colorado and Steve "Oppie" Goossen and wife, Michelle, of Benson, Minnesota; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Lisa Goossen of Fairmont, Minnesota; Clifford Sandmeyer and wife, Pat, of Maplewood, Minnesota, Elizabeth Newhope of Madelia, Minnesota, Gloria Sandmeyer of St. James, Minnesota, Lucille Rouslang and husband, Jim, of Osseo, Minnesota and David Sandmeyer and wife, Karen, of Lakeville, Minnesota; several nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
Joanne was preceded in death by her brother, Thomas Goossen; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Evelyn and Walter Sandmeyer, brother-in-law, Paul Sandmeyer and other relatives.
