Violetta passed peacefully in her sleep, on November 3rd, 2023, to be with our Lord. Violetta was a blessing in the lives of her family and friends. She exhibited a great deal of strength, and she persevered through much. She instilled her strength in all her family as she helped to raise her daughter and grandchildren to grow into responsible, Godly adults. She spoke of how surviving the war (WWII) gave her the strength to live and to share her experiences with loved ones. During the war, she had dangerous work with the Koninklijke Marine (The Royal Dutch Navy). She was captured by the Japanese and went on to survive eighteen months as a POW, where she suffered greatly. She came to this country with her husband, Theodoor, in 1959. She used the strength God had given her to endure the death of her husband in 1971. She then leaned on God and her Christian community as she raised her daughter alone. She then came to live with her daughter and family, where she helped raise her three grandchildren and was blessed to live to see her first great grandchild.
She is survived by her daughter Gaby, son-in-law Chris, grandchildren Tyler, Timothy, Thomas, and great grandchild TJ. She is also survived by her many nieces and nephews both here and in the Netherlands.
