My name is Jac Doggen. I am looking for my uncle Marinus Doggen and his wife and children. He was a brother of my father Willem Doggen. They went together to Canada in the early twenties. My father came back to Holland and Marinus stayed in Canada or in the U.S.A. The only message that the family ever became was that he married a widow with 2 children. We suppose that she came from St.Janssteen. We are looking forward for your reaction. J.Doggen Gregoriuslaan 35 6114 N.K.Susteren Nederland.Tel.046 4492221
this was an excellent website. i found it quite interesting. me and my dad russell frank goosen have always had arguements about where we were from originally. i remember my grandpa telling me stories about a village being built be his grandfather. now i had but i lost(in a car wreckage) a family bible that gave me the genealogy back about three generation before my dad. and all the names as it was a tradition to name them was this my grandfather was named frank jacob. his father was jacob isacc. and i believe his father was issac jacob goosen. does this make sense either way i believe then we'd be the prussian russian side of the family thanks again for all your work with this web site. if you want you can call me at 1 780 472 7375. thanks again.

Johan, I'm aslo looking for info on the Oelofse family. My grandfather was Jan Hendrik Oelofse, married to Johanna Jacoba Oberholzer. Their childern were Jan Hendrik Oelofse (my father), Johannes (Hansie) Oelofse, Daniel (Danie) Oelofse, Anna (Annetjie) Louisa Oelofse and Johanna (Joey) Jacoba Oelofse. Unfortunately i don't recall any info with regards to my great grand parents but I'm sure if I spoke to my father he could shed some light. Please email me any info you may have gathered so far. I'm particularly inetersted in where the surname came from(Norway, I believe), its original form (Olafson ?) and the first person in SA with the last name. Of course, being able to follow the lineage from there would be great too.
