Generation: 1

  1. 1.  Seymour Munro was born about 1775 in Liberty County, Georgia, United States of America (daughter of Simon Munro and Elizabeth West); died on 6 Dec 1828 in Marietta, Georgia, United States of America.

    Notes:

Seymour Munro was born Nov 1775 in Liberty Co., GA, probably at "Westfield Plantation", the home of her parents Simon Munro and Elizabeth West. She died after a very lengthy and debilitating illness on 6 Dec 1828 and is buried at Sunbury Cemetery. Her tombstone reads, in part: "Sacred to the Memory of Mrs. Semor Smith the consort of James Smith Esq of McIntosh Co. who departed this life on the Eveng of the 6 Dec 1828 Aged 53 years and 22 days." This would put her birth around 14 Nov 1775. According to the inscription three of her "little" grandchildren were buried beside her tomb. She was James Smith's first wife. After her death in 1828, James Smith married Mrs. Jane Irvine Farquharson. Seymour Munro and James Smith had only one known child, Elizabeth West Smith, who married James Dunwody.

  1. 2.  Simon Munro was born about 1741 in Inverness, Scotland (son of Sir Robert Munro and Mary Seymour); died on 29 Dec 1790 in Liberty County, Georgia, United States of America.

    Notes:

Simon Munro, (1741–1790), although not mentioned as a son of Sir Robert Munro, 6th Baronet by Mackenzie, other sources claim that one Simon Munro who was a slave trader and who had a plantation in the Province of Georgia granted to him by George III of the United Kingdom was the son of Sir Robert and his wife Mary Seymour. However, the year of Simon's birth, 1741, is nine years after the death of Mary Seymour in 1732 so she could not have been his mother. Simon was apparently a 9th son and therefore had no inheritance and so he went to America and built up a mercantile business. Simon left five children: Elizabeth, Harry, Jane Seymour, Amarintha and Ann West Munro

Simon married Elizabeth West. Elizabeth (daughter of Charles West and Esther) was born on 8 Oct 1750; died on 8 May 1807 in Liberty County, Georgia, United States of America. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
