Deze orde zal in bijzondere gevallen ook aan vreemdelingen kunnen gegeven worden.

Een benoeming tot Commandeur in de Orde van Oranje-Nassau - de derde graad - komt niet vaak voor. De gedecoreerde moet zeer bijzondere of belangrijke activiteiten hebben verricht. Of de verdiensten hebben een internationale en zelfs wereldwijde uitstraling en betekenis. De onderscheiding wordt ook regelmatig uitgereikt tijdens staatsbezoeken.

The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire is a British order of chivalry, rewarding contributions to the arts and sciences, work with charitable and welfare organisations, and public service outside the civil service.[2] It was established on 4 June 1917 by King George V and comprises five classes across both civil and military divisions, the most senior two of which make the recipient either a knight if male or dame if female. There is also the related British Empire Medal, whose recipients are affiliated with, but not members of the order.

Het kruis werd door het "Nationaal Comité Herdenking Mobilisatie 1914" op 1 augustus 1924 ingesteld en in een Legerorder van 1924 werd militairen toestemming verleend om het kruis, en de baton, op het uniform te dragen. Er is geen Koninklijk Besluit opgemaakt maar de legerorder vermeldt wel dat "het H.M. de Koningin heeft behaagd, als blijk van waardeering van de diensten, door de krijgsmacht tijdens den gemobiliseerden toestand aan den lande bewezen, te bepalen het herinneringskruis, ingesteld door het Nationaal Comité Herdenking Mobilisatie 1914, ook in uniform - zoowel in als buiten dienst - mag worden gedragen.

Onderscheidingsteken voor Langdurige Dienst als officier.
Het Onderscheidingsteken voor Eervolle Langdurige Dienst als officier, doorgaans het Officierskruis genoemd, is een militaire onderscheiding die wordt uitgereikt aan officieren in de Nederlandse krijgsmacht die ten minste 15 jaar actief officier zijn.

De onderscheiding werd op 19 november 1844 ingesteld door koning Willem II en wordt sindsdien uitgereikt op zijn verjaardag, 6 december. Omdat tijdens deze uitreikingen in het officiersverblijf traditioneel een glaasje jenever werd genuttigd, wordt ze ook wel het Jeneverkruis genoemd.

De huidige Deense Orde van de Dannebrog werd op 12 oktober 1672 door Koning Christiaan V van Denemarken ingesteld. De Orde was, zo heette het, een herleving van de in 1219 door Koning Valdemar II "de veroveraar" na de verovering van Reval ingestelde ridderorde.

De Orde van de Eikenkroon is een orde van het groothertogdom Luxemburg. De groothertog van Luxemburg is de grootmeester van de orde.

De Orde van de Eikenkroon werd in 1841 ingesteld door groothertog Willem II. De koning voelde behoefte aan een Luxemburgse orde van verdienste en wilde het instellen van de eerste Luxemburgse grondwet luister bijzetten. Het lint, de oorspronkelijke verdeling in vier klassen en de vorm van het kruis van de orde waren geïnspireerd door de Russische Orde van Sint-George. Willem II was gehuwd met een tsarendochter en was zelf om zijn rol in de Slag bij Waterloo met die orde onderscheiden.

The award was established on 23 April 1883 by Queen Victoria, with a single class of Member and first awarded to the founder of modern nursing, Florence Nightingale. A second and lower class, Associate, was added during World War I in November 1915.

The award is made to a fully trained nurse of an officially recognised nursing service, military or civilian, who has shown exceptional devotion and competence in the performance of nursing duties, over a continuous and long period, or who has performed an exceptional act of bravery and devotion at her or his post of duty. It is conferred on members of the nursing services regardless of rank. Holders of the second class who receive a further award are promoted to the first class, although an initial award can also be made in the first class. Holders of the first class who receive a further award are awarded a bar.

Het Verzetsherdenkingskruis is geen koninklijke maar een nationale onderscheiding, die werd ingesteld bij Koninklijk Besluit (nr. 104) op 19 december 1980 ter gelegenheid van de 35ste herdenking van de bevrijding. De onderscheiding is bestemd voor deelnemers aan het verzet tegen de bezetters van Nederlands grondgebied in de Tweede Wereldoorlog.

De Victoria Medal of Honour is een onderscheiding die wordt uitgereikt in nagedachtenis van koningin Victoria door de Royal Horticultural Society, aan inwoners van Groot-Brittannië met een grote maatschappelijk verdienste op het gebied van tuinen en tuinplanten.

De regel is dat er 63 dragers van deze medaille in leven mogen zijn als symbool voor de 63 jaren dat koningin Vicoria regeerde. Dit houdt in dat de medaille in een bepaald jaar niet uitgereikt wordt en in een ander jaar verschillende personen tegelijk deze medaille opgespeld kunnen krijgen.
