    Robert "Bruce" Brodie, 66, of 2301 South Sherman, Sioux Falls, S.D. died Sunday, August 22, 1993, at Sioux Valley hospital in Sioux Falls, after a four-month illness of cancer.

    A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the First Methodist church in Sioux Falls with the Rev. Donna Kjonaas officiating. A private interment will precede the service in Woodlawn cemetery in Sioux Falls. Miller Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. There will be no visitation.

    Bruce was born Decemkber 19, 1926, in Le Mars, Iowa to Robert B. and Myrna O. (Richey) Brodie. He attended high school in Le Mars, Iowa and graduated from the Akron high school in 1944. Following graduation he entered the Navy V-12 program, and after his discharge, attended a radio school in Tulsa, Okla., where he received his radio engineer's license. He worked for radion stations in Sioux Falls and Mitchell, S.D., as an engineer. He managed the Warren Radio Supply in Sioux City from 1953 to 1965 when they moved to Sioux Falls and started Brodie's Certified Appliance with stores on Eighth St. and in the Western Mall. He sold the business to Karl's Appliance in 1987 and retired.

    He was a member of the Shrine, Elks Lodge, Rotary and Kiwanis organizations.

    He married L. Phyllis Albertson Sept. 17, 1950, in Sioux Falls. She died August 21, 1992 while they were vacationing in Stockholm, Sweden.

    The couple traveled the world extensively throughout their marriage. Bruce enjoyed hunting and was an avid fisherman. He held a private pilot's license most of his adult life. He is survived by a daughter, Roberta and her husband, Kevin Barry of Hawthorne Woods, Ill.; two sons, Brian and his wife Linda Brodie and Craig Brodie, all of Sioux Falls; four grandchildren, Matthew and Timothy Barry and Aaron and Scott Brodie; his mother Myrna Brodie of Sioux City; one brother, Malcom Brodie and his wife, Beverly of Alron; and three nieces, Kathlyn Saienga of Akron, Karen Andrew of Washington, Iowa and Kim Brodie of Salem, Mass.

    He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis, and his father, Robert and a son, Gregory in infancy.

    Robert B. Brodie, 73, of 1233 Third Ave. SW, a native of LeMars, died unexpectedly Saturday (Feb. 1, 1975) at his home in LeMars. He suffered an apparent heart attack. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Mauer funeral home in LeMars. Rev. Ralph Nelson officiated and burial was in the LeMars Memorial Cemetery. Mr. Brodie was born May 23, 1901, at rural Le Mars, the son of Malcolm F. and Margaret Ross Brodie. He was married to Myrna O. Richey on July 22, 1925, at Sioux City. The couple farmed from 1936 at rural Akron. They moved to LeMars in 1969. At one time Mr. Brodie operated the Brodie meat market in what is now the Meis block on 1st Ave. SW in Le Mars. Survivors are his wife, Myrna Brodie, LeMars; two sons, Robert Bruce Brodie, Sioux Falls, and Malcolm W. Brodie, rural Akron; four granddaughters, Kathlyn Saienga and Karen, Kim and Roberta Brodie; two grandsons, Brian and Craig Brodie, and two brothers, Charles and William Brodie, both of LeMars. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mae King, and four brothers, John, Ronald, Colin and Stuart.

    Malcolm Frederick Brodie, one of the English colony which came to Le Mars sixty years ago, died July 21 in Sacred Heart hospital, where he had been a patient the past three months.

    Mr. Brodie was born February 10, 1861, in Eastbourne, England, the son of Wm. and Jane Moore Brodie, and came to Plymouth county when he was 20 years old. He lived on a farm near Crathhorne until he moved to Le Mars, On July 21, 1885, he was married to Margaret Ross, who with one daughter, Helen May King, and two sons, John and Colin, preceded him in death.

    Mr. Brodie is survived by five sons, Charles of Merrill, Stewart of Mapleton; Ronald of Alhambra, California, Robert of Akron and William of Le Mars. There are 16 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. A brother Stewart, and a sister, Mrs. Grace Heisch, live in Eastbourne, England, and another sister, Mrs. Edith Davidson, lives in the Isle of Wight.

    Mr. Brodie has been in failing health since the death of his wife in March 1945. As long as his health permitted he was an active worker in the Presbyterian church of which he was a lifelong member. Funeral services were hid at the Mauer Funeral Home at 2 p. m. Thursday and at Plymouth Presbyterian church at 2:30 p. m. with Rev. John Oerter, of the First Presbyterian church, Le Mars, officiating. Burial was in the Plymouth church cemetery at Crathhorne.

    Had Lived Here Sixty-Three Years

    Mrs. M. F. Brodie passed away at the Kahler hospital, Rochester, Minn., Friday, March 2, where she had been receiving treatment for the past six weeks for a serious throat ailment.

    Margaret Ross was born at Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Canada, on October 15, 1867, and had reached the age of 77 years, 4 months and 17 days. In the fall of 1881 she came with her parents to Plymouth county where they settled on a farm in Johnson township. On July 21, 1885, she was united in marriage with Malcolm F. Brobie and to this union eight children were born. Two sons have preceded her in death, John William and Colin Douglas.

    Beside her husband she is survived by five sons, Charles of Merrill, Stuart of Sioux City, Ronald of Alhambra, Calif., Robert of Akron and William of Fort Lewis, Tacoma, Washington; one daughter, Helen May King of Le Mars. There are sixteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren also one sister, Mrs. Wm. McGilvrey of Messington, S.D.; three brothers, Alex Ross of Saskatchewan, and Robert and Angus of Wessington, S. D.

    Shortly after their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Brodie joined the Plymouth Presbyterian church near Crathorne. Later changed to the First Presbyterian church of Le Mars by letter. They moved to Le Mars in 1913 where they have since resided.

    For almost sixty years Mrs. Brodie was a devoted wife and mother, her chief interest being in her home and her family, reaching out in later years to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her gracious hospitality will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. The funeral services will be held at the Plymouth Presbyterian church on Tuesday at 2 o-clock, Rev. G. G. Thompson in charge, assisted by Rev. T. C. Siebert. Burial will be in Plymouth Cemetery.
