2. | Frank R. Goossen was born on 12 Oct 1914 in Clear Springs, Manitoba, Canada (son of Peter R. Goossen and Helena Reimer); died on 28 Feb 1993; was buried on 4 Mar 1993 in St. Anne, Manitoba, Canada. Notes:
Frank R. Goossen was born to Peter D. and Helena Reimer Goossen on October 12, 1914, at Clearsprings, Manitoba, reaching the age of seventy-eight years. Death came as a result of complications of pneumonia and old age.
On December 3, 1935, he was baptized upon the confession of his faith into the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, by Min. Jacob T. Wiebe. This faith he embraced until the end.
In 1917, he moved with his parents to Littlefield, Texas. After a few years they moved back to Manitoba and settled on a farm. In 1940, he bought a farm a few miles from his folks and lived there a short while with his sister, Anne.
He was joined in marriage to me, Margaret Friesen, on January 16, 1944, at Langdon, North Dakota. We enjoyed forty-nine years of married life. We were looking forward to our fiftieth anniversary. We were blessed with five sons and two daughters.
Dad had his struggles, but in recent years spiritual life meant more to him. He often regretted that he hadn't done more, and often prayed for his family. We feel confident of his salvation and his personal testimony, although at times he found it difficult to convey his heartfelt feelings to us.
He is survived by: his sorrowing companion, Margaret; five sons: Larry and Joyce, Ste. Anne, Manitoba; Donald of the home; Wesley and Corinne, Victoria, British Columbia; Berton and Olga, Steinbach, Manitoba; and Delbert and Faye, Randolph, Manitoba; two daughters: Phyllis and Richard Wiebe, Steinbach, Manitoba; and Joyce and Cecil Isaac, Fort Vermillion, Alberta; six brothers: John and Lizzie, Ste. Anne, Manitoba; Peter; Danny and Rosella; and Roy and Gladys, all of Abbotsford, British Columbia; Robert and Florence, Kelwood, Manitoba; and Gerald and Ellen, Ferintosh, Alberta; four sisters: Anne Janzen, Whitemouth, Manitoba; Marie and Clarence Toews, Elma, Manitoba; Linda and John Friesen, Blumenort, Mantioba; and Tina and Alvin Bartel, Steinbach, Manitoba; two sisters-in-law: Agnes Goossen, Edberg, Alberta; and Doreen Goossen, Abbotsford, British Columbia; twenty-one grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews, neighbors, and friends.
Preceding him in death were a grandson, Rawlin Isaac; his parents; one sister, Viola, in infancy; two brothers: George and Aron; two brothers-in-law: Nick and Dick Janzen; and one sister-in-law, Vivian Goossen.
Funeral services were held on March 4, 1993, at the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, Ste. Anne, Manitoba. The home ministers were in charge. Burial was in the Greenland Cemetery, with son-in-law Min. Cecil Isaac in charge.
