      Soms vind je sporen uit het verleden op onvermoede plaatsen. Zo is het ook met een eenvoudig aantekenboekje van een koster van Breust uit het verre verleden. (Parochiearchief Breust-Eijsden, nr. XXIV .)
      We bedoelen hier het aantekenboekje van koster Joannes Martinus Wolfs.
      In dat boekje lezen we:
      "In het jaer ons Heere eenduysent sevenhondert 76 heeft het soo sterck gevroren dat de Maese is toe geweest, sodanig dat men daer dagelijcks over passeerden".
      Tevens blijkt uit hetzelfde boekje dat koster Joannes Martinus Wolfs de zoon is van Winand Wolfs.
