  • Notes
    • Our son and brother, Donald Frank Goossen, was born to Frank and Margaret Friesen Goossen on October 10, 1947, at the Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach, Manitoba. He passed away suddenly in a tragic vehicle accident on January 4, 2000, as he was coming home from work. He reached the age of just over fifty-two years.
At the age of seventeen, Donald was baptized into the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, on January 31, 1965, by Min. Ed Barkman. He embraced this faith until the end.
Don's life was not without struggles, however he had many heartwarming experiences, too. He left a clear testimony with his mother just a few days before his passing that he felt that God had forgiven him all his sins and that he was ready to go to heaven. We as a family feel comforted in having this assurance of his salvation, and that he has gone to a better place.
He leaves to mourn his passing, his mother, four brothers, and two sisters: Larry and Joyce, Ste. Anne, Manitoba; Phyllis and Richard Wiebe, Steinbach, Manitoba; Joyce and Cecil Isaac, Fort Vermilion, Alberta; Wesley and Corinne, Victoria, British Columbia; Burton and Olga, Steinbach, Manitoba; and Delbert and Faye, Randolph, Manitoba; many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
He was predeceased by his father, one niece, and one nephew.
Funeral services were held on January 8, 2000, at the Greenland Congregation, Ste Anne, Manitoba. Ministers Melvin Penner, Ken Goossen, and Jesse Friesen officiated. Burial was in the Church cemetery.
