Mrs. Doris E. Goosen, age 95, passed away Sunday, January 1, 2012 at Seminole Shores Assisted Living Center where she had resided for the past 6 months. She was born in Muskegon on November 5, 1916 to William S. and Anna J. (Hansen) Petersen and was a life resident of the area. Mrs. Goosen had worked at Olsen Photography Studio, S.D. Warren and Howmet Corporation.

After retirement, she decided to get her high school diploma so she attended Mona Shores H.S. and graduated at the age of 75. She was a member of Fruitport Senior Center and enjoyed playing cards and taking bus trips with the group. In May of 1940, she married Edward Goosen and they attended Central Lutheran Church.

She is survived by 2 sons, Donald (Beverely) Goosen of Norton Shores and Vernon (Rebecca) Goosen of Spring Lake; 8 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Goosen; her oldest son, Thomas Goosen; her parents; 6 brothers and 3 sisters. FUNERAL SERVICES will be 3:00 PM Wednesday at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St. 231-798-1100 with Pastor John Brown officiating. VISITATION will be one hour prior to the service. INTERMENT will be in Oakwood Cemetery. For a more lasting MEMORIAL you are asked to consider Harbor Hospice or Edgewood Lutheran Church.
